Guestroom Love

I'm finally getting my twin beds thankful to my Aunt who wanted my daybed in trade for her bunk bed's that break into 2 pieces.

Since I am finally going to be able to decorate my second guestroom how I truly want I have to find the perfect color pallet and vision.

I am IN LOVE!! With this color pallet.

I'm going to use the really faint green (top color) to refinish the furniture in.

My accent wall will be in the dark navy/grey. And my other 3 walls will be the brown below.

I'm very excited about this color pallet and can really visualize any age child or adult spending time in this room.

I really love the simplicity of this room. I am looking for a chest of drawers to use a "night stand" to break up the 2 beds.

House Paint Colors

With football season over and the holidays almost through, it's time to start focusing on my house again - starting with painting! Call me crazy but I love painting. I think it is the artist coming out. Picking out paint colors is half the fun of painting, there is just something about standing in Lowe's, staring at the Eddie Bauer section of 100's of paint chips that really gets the brain going.

I am in love with Greens, Greys, Browns, and dark Earth-tones.

My office is halfway painted. One of the walls is this awesome red-ish color, Rubarb. The other walls will be a good "tumbleweed" color modeled after the remaining colors in the downstairs rooms. I absolutely LOVE Rubarb.

To connect my downstairs and upstairs I am thinking a great brown color pallet. I want to have my entire wall going up the stairs collaged in pictures so I'm planning on a darker color to go up the staircase and the darkest brown will be a great start. It will also go with the other accent walls in the house.

I'm really stuck on my master bedroom and bath. I know I want to use this grey-white Eddie Bauer color called Oyster. It's a perfect shade of white and a great calming color from all of the dark throughout the house. The problem with my master bedroom is that I have a blue/green chair with brown flowers on it that is in my master. I LOVE this chair but the color makes it awkward to match. My second problem is that our master is MASSIVE and I could really use 3 colors to make the room more manageable and broken up. I'm really struggling with this room.

I really love this color pallet for one of my guest bedrooms. I'm still a little torn on the colors I want to use for the guest rooms but I need to make a decision quickly because the first weekend in January we have friends coming to stay.

Fun Christmas Idea

So tonight I bought some glass vases from TJ Maxx (my all time favorite place) to place on my front porch. I've been looking for lanterns but all of the lanterns I want are more than I want to spend. Now I just have to decide what type of look I want to my glass vases.

Guest Bedroom Love

So, I have become borderline obsessed with decorating my guest bedrooms.

I am IN LOVE with this look. I think it looks warm, homey, and inviting. Not that I want my guests to make home in my home but I do want them to feel loved and welcome when they arrive.

It's not even Halloween and I'm ready for Christmas

So, it's not even Halloween but I am ready for Christmas.

Since I now live in a neighborhood and LOVE my house (finally), I'm preparing to deck ALL the halls for Christmas. Not one space will be left untouched for Christmas this year. Mom and I have even been stocking up on Christmas decor so that it isn't such an overwhelming all at once. And thanks to Pintrest I am even more focused on my decorating.

Want Projects

We close in NINE days!! Yay!

I could not be happier. And this means that it's time to start planning for my projects.

Color Safari

I've got a cute little downstairs half bath that I really want to decorate up for my guests to use. I have monogrammed white and brown towels and brown and tan zebra stripe towels that are designated for that bathroom. I am thinking that I want to stick with the animal print theme with a twist so I found there awesome prints that I think fit perfectly into that non-traditional "zebra print" room.

What do y'all think?

And yes, just a week and a half until we CLOSE! And I can being painting. Eep!! I'm so excited to be in the home stretch.

Chalkboard Paint

So I've been thinking a lot about how I want to begin to decorate the house when we FINALLY get in. I don't want to waste anytime brainstorming about the design. I'm ready to get in and start working my magic.

One thing I think I really would like in the kitchen on a single, small wall would be a floor to ceiling chalkboard wall. And if you buy a good, chalkboard erasable marker it is actually really clean and can look great.

This is my inspiration.



And thanks to Tumblr, I have tons of great and inspirational quotes that would fill the board nicely as well as providing a place to write messages and notes. I think it will add character to our home. And we all know I am all about simple and elegant character.

Room Ideas

Enough about my life dear readers, let's talk about the fun stuff - HOME DECOR!

Since Hubs and I are officially now home owners and we will be moving in the first week of August it's time to start planning for how I want our home to look.

We did buy living room furniture so I won't harp on the living room but guest bedrooms, kitchen, and office are another story. I'm so excited about getting in there and painting and making everything perfect.

For our 2 guestrooms, I want to set up one with 2 Twin Beds and the other room with a full/queen bed. One room is going to be a little more feminine while the other is going to be a little more masculine but both will be fairly gender neutral.

I really enjoy the white and neutral color pallets which will follow through most of the house using whites, greys, greens, and browns. Very coastal colors, mostly with coastal names, all from the Eddie Bauer edition at Lowe's.

I will bring in some color with a great set of pillow shams I bought at TJ Maxx and lots of other items I have/will collect along the way.





Something that is awesome in each guestroom is there is a nook that can have perfect window seats built in. I'm really looking forward to a project like this.



In my office I have a great fireplace (which I'm hoping works) and I have great ideas for my office using a few Inslee sketches. I also have an awesome Turner painting that is HUGE. It is a abstract city scape and I'm going to display it over the fireplace in the office. But I also want to create a display with my hodge podge collection of my items. My office is going to be a great place to really display ME and Hubs too I guess.



Our kitchen has really neat glass doors on a few cabinets. I'm excited about using these cabinets to display our dishes and glasses. Yes, I am that person who has white every day dishes and formal glasses.



And NO!! My cabinets WILL NOT and ARE NOT green. They are just as bad but oak. Which I guess in hindsight oak is better than green. Yes?

Then for the front yard I love this look of lots of green and potted plants and flowers. I do not want anything I have to pick, pluck, water, weed, trim, or cut. I am a minimalist when it comes to growing things. And I do not enjoy yard work. End of story.



And for the backyard, until we get a pool put in, I want a hammock!

Kitchen Love

So with all of this talking of moving I've been looking at housing decor. It's a huge change from bridal gowns and business plans. One thing that Hubs and I love to do is entertain so our kitchen is a major focus of ours. We don't really have a lot of requirements for our kitchen but we do want butcher block counter tops. And I have grown to love white cabinetry.

Dream House

Before Hubs and I decide to buy I would like to consider building.

I would like to show our housing plans to a contractor and go over building costs before we commit to buying. If we can build dream home for a good price, than that is the option I would like to go with.

These are some ideas I would like to see in our purchased, non-rental home.

But I would like it to look more like this...



I love these colors but I want a BIG beautiful porch like the builder designed. So I would combine the two.

And I would like to add in elements of this porch with the french doors and two-toned stair case and the ceiling fans. Because I want to extend the porch on the builders design to connect all the way around with the second porch. Speaking of changes I want to make, I want to extend the master closet and take out the wash room. I want to cut the library in half and create a mudroom by the backdoor entrance and create a smaller library/office. I also want to add a 3rd bedroom to the second floor to create a 4 bedroom home.



I want to have hardwood throughout but on the stairs I know how hard going up and down hardwood stairs can be without come carpeting so I want to use a jute carpeting like this...



To close off the kitchen from the great room I would love to host a set of barn doors. Maybe painted in a great teal distressed look.



I want my front door to have a style like this...



And the coloring like this which I would want to carry the color through with shutters...



And on the porch, I want to be able to hang one of these...
